I could have never imagined the importance of having a Safe Sanctuary policy. As Childrens Ministers, it is our job to gate keep our ministry area. Everyone who volunteers (not just hired) should have a background check run a minimum of every 3 years. The biggest deterrent to a bad actor is the power of the background check form. Most bad actors will not even complete the form. However, occasionally there are exceptions like today's video story time. #childrensministry #kidmin #churchleadership
Divinity School did not prepare me for managing staff, interviewing potential staff, and running background checks (all the normal administrative tasks of my career). But, the best way to learn is to do.
Every channel needs to have guiding principles and this channel is no exception. I'm changing my content (mostly)....there will still be game content around holidays like Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter. But I'm adding in the knowledge I've gleaned from my career as a Children's Ministry Director with a Masters of Divinity.
