I express my personal struggles as a church staff member, feeling the need to always be on call, whether it's attending to church duties or receiving calls and messages at all hours. I touch upon the additional responsibilities of being a mother and a wife of a pastor, which further intensify the need to please everyone. I confront the damaging effects of people-pleasing, how it leads to burnout, high expectations, and a detrimental impact on self-care.
I suggest that the church should break away from the constant need for busyness and productivity, advocating for periods of rest, reflection, and personal growth. What is the impact of people-pleasing in your own life?
