In this video, I discuss a post I found on Facebook where an anonymous person shares a troubling situation in their church. It involves a married couple who had split apart, and during this time, the husband had an affair with a woman from the church. What shocks me is that the church allows the man to continue attending but bans the woman from the church. This double standard infuriates me, as it perpetuates the idea that women are more to blame for adultery than men. I question why the children's ministry leader knows about this situation and wonder if it was revealed through gossip or if the pastor shared it. I share my personal experience with a pastor who broke confidentiality, sharing inappropriate information with the staff.
I believe that such matters should be handled with utmost sensitivity and privacy. Pastors should refer individuals involved in adultery to licensed therapists rather than trying to counsel them. As for the children's minister, if they have not been directly approached by the parents involved, they should do nothing more than pray for them. I strongly disagree with kicking anyone out of the church for adultery since the church should be a place of healing and acceptance for broken people.
Every channel needs to have guiding principles and this channel is no exception. I'm changing my content (mostly)....there will still be game content around holidays like Halloween, Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter. But I'm adding in the knowledge I've gleaned from my career as a Children's Ministry Director with a Masters of Divinity.
