I emphasize the importance of setting boundaries and highlight that the church will continue to take from you unless you establish healthy limits. I share a story about a youth minister who successfully negotiated his job description to ensure that he wouldn't be overwhelmed with additional tasks. He firmly set boundaries and refused to take on more responsibilities without being compensated adequately. #childrensministry #churchleadership #burnout
I also discuss the difficulty of saying no to authority, especially for women in ministry. However, it is crucial to make hard choices and prioritize our well-being.
To prevent burnout, I suggest four things: setting boundaries, exercising regularly, eating well, and finding something you love to do outside of ministry. I acknowledge that while church should bring joy, it also comes with stress, responsibility, and difficult choices.
